Rwanda – Rushashi – Rutabo Village – Honey

Rushashi is knows as one of the most progressive washing stations in Rwanda. Not only do they use self-developed water and energy saving triple fermentation methods and advanced pulp recycling methodes, they also have two women-empowerment organisations! This is something we stand for. With it’s constant development, the Abakundakawa cooperation keeps getting more sustainable.

The processing of this specific coffee is the “honey processing method”. The outer skin of the berry is removed, but the fruitpulp stays on (in different amounts). While drying the coffee it gets all sticky and honey-like, and this is where the name orginates from. In reality, no real honey is being used at all.
